Here's a basic example of how you might try it.
| Code: |
EXTERNAL @WINDIR(S)\vdsinout.dll
%%Pass = Test
%%Name = User Name
%%Drive = @VOLINFO(C,Z)
REM Make Serial
%%DriveEnc = @io(ENCSTR,%%Drive,%%Pass)
%%Serial = @IO(ENCSTR,%%Name,%%Pass)-@IO(ENCSTR,%%DriveEnc,%%Pass)
INFO Info:@CHR(10)@CHR(13)%%Name@CHR(10)@CHR(13)%%Drive
INFO Serial:@CHR(10)@CHR(13)%%Serial
REM Decrypt Info.
OPTION FIELDSEP,"-"
PARSE "%%SerialName;%%SerialDrive",%%Serial
%%SerialNameDec = @IO(DECSTR,%%SerialName,%%Pass)
%%SerialDriveDec = @IO(DECSTR,%%SerialDrive,%%Pass)
%%SerialDriveDec = @IO(DECSTR,%%SerialDriveDec,%%Pass)
INFO Decrypted Info:@CHR(10)@CHR(13)%%SerialNameDec@CHR(10)@CHR(13)%%SerialDriveDec
REM Test Different Drive Serial
%%Drive2 = -23653789
%%Drive2Enc = @io(ENCSTR,%%Drive2,%%Pass)
%%Serial2 = @IO(ENCSTR,%%Name,%%Pass)-@IO(ENCSTR,%%Drive2Enc,%%Pass)
IF @EQUAL(%%Serial,%%Serial2)
INFO Serials Match@CHR(10)@CHR(13)%%Serial@CHR(10)@CHR(13)%%Serial2
ELSE
INFO Serials Do Not Match@CHR(10)@CHR(13)%%Serial@CHR(10)@CHR(13)%%Serial2
END

WOW - i wouldn't have came close to that
i'am trying to find out how that scripts works.....i run that script and i get "Serials Do Not Match" i see it compares Serial,Serial2 and it looks to me that one part of the code would be the keygen...all i can say is wow i wouldn't have gotten that in a million years i will play with it to see what i can mess-up...hehhehe

SnarlingSheep - can you explain what some of this code is doing? the part i don't get it that drive2?
| Code: |
%%Drive2 = -23653789
|

%%Drive2 is really just random numbers, but in the actual program that would be where you make sure the current drive serial matches the one from the program's serial. _________________ -Sheep

ok
i'am right saying that the first part of that code would be the keygen part? part to make the serial number for the user? _________________ Have a nice day |

You guys have a pretty kick butt ideal there if I understand correctly...which I probably don't but here's my interpretation...
You have a generic key they recieve, the program reads there information one time and sets a flag that is has been initialized and modifies the key according to the system information where it cannot be used on another computer?
Is that where your going...i'm interested in the concept but i'm not understanding the code examples because I don't use VDS 4 ;-(

Which part of my code was for VDS 4 only?
The idea is for the users harddrive serial to be part of their program registration.
Honestly, I'm not sure this adds anymore protection to your registration method. If it's deciphered then just like any other registration method it won't be much good.
On the other hand, an encrypted harddrive serial is one more hurdle for a cracker to jump.
I know some programs use this type of method, not sure of how much more effective it is though. Can't hurt. _________________ -Sheep

well i took some of that code and tried to make a key gen....BUT I'am having problem with this:
| Code: |
%%Name = @dlgtext(name)
|
it don't put anything in there meaning in the main string
this one:
| Code: |
%%Serial = @IO(ENCSTR,%%Name,%%Pass)-@IO(ENCSTR,%%DriveEnc,%%Pass)
|
and yes i have a dlgtest for pass to when i do a info it just shows -
BUT the more i play with this code the more i start to understand what is going on...i hope heheheheh

It looks like it would be compatible with both VDS 3 and 4 (correct me if
I'm wrong) but the INOUT functions/commands are used by the VDSINOUT.DLL _________________ FreezingFire
