Seen 18 new messages (ALL SPAM) here today. Is there not a way to protect the forum?!

Andy, we are beta-testing a new product which should wipe out all spam messages from the forum based on a block list. Although it still is beta, more and more people start to use it and we believe that once the final stage has been reached, as good as no spam can get through Smile

Also, we keep on trying to remove spam messages and users as fast as we can Smile

I was cleaning up that mess last night and it looked like 15 of those messages were from a single spammer. Using the report button deleted the user and all of the messages in a single go Smile

Which is very nice, previously with just phpbb's own function I would have to delete each message individually.

Seems to me, a sawed-off shotgun and a physical address would solve the problem...

We (bbProtection, the anti-spam solution mentioned above) decided to change the direction of the project a couple of days ago, and have currently disabled spam protection for all boards whilst making these changes. As such, the flood of spammers VDSWORLD is getting aren't being stopped right now so they can do their "work".

The system itself was working perfectly (just not at full throttle yet), but lots of users were having problems with the requirement for the ionCube loader and there seemed to be some conflicts with GPL and our proprietary license.

The client is going to be open-source now so we had to make quite some changes to ensure that it will be harder (but unfortunately not impossible) for someone to abuse the system.

Ah, I wondered who bbprotection were. For some time over the holidays I could not access VDSWORLD at all! I keep getting a message that I had been barred from accessing the site as I was a spammer or something like that...

I am in Indonesia at the moment, and this co-incided with the general slow-down we had here because of the Taiwan earthquake.

But still I was annoyed a legitamate user was barred!
